Brief

“Fremantle has waited long for its courthouse, but its patience has been well rewarded.”

Built in 1899, The Old Courthouse was a pillar of justice in Fremantle until closing in 2001. After a three-year renovation, it reopened in 2021 as a modern hospitality destination.

Our role involved creating the primary logo and logomark, along with assisting in the overall look and feel of the brand identity. The logomark reimagines the scales of justice with a fork, spoon, and glass to reflect food and drink, while wave motifs nod to Fremantle’s harbour. A detailed illustration of the Courthouse facade anchors the brand in its heritage. This fusion of justice, hospitality, and local heritage provided a flexible identity system that works across signage, menus, merchandise, and digital applications. A repeating logomark pattern was also developed to give the brand an adaptable visual texture.
